Cancer prevention & early detectionTakoradi, Ghana
Prevent.Detect.Empower.
Stepin gives women and communities across Ghana the knowledge, support and pathways to prevent cancer, recognise it early and act in time.
About Stepin
We give women the knowledge to act early.
Stepin is a Ghanaian non-profit working to change when, and how, women meet the health system when cancer is involved.
We teach women what to look for, connect them to qualified care, and measure whether it worked.
What we stand for
Five areas. One pathway.
01
Awareness
Plain-language cancer education, delivered where women already are.
Explore 02Prevention
Acting on the risks that can be reduced: HPV, hepatitis B, tobacco and more.
Explore 03Early detection
What screening exists, what it involves and where to find it.

04

Into churches, workplaces, schools and communities.
Explore 05Empowerment
Community Champions who carry cancer education long after a visit ends.

Our impact
One month of screening, in numbers.
October 2023, with Roche Ghana: Stepin’s most fully documented programme.
Historical figures from the October 2023 programme report, not current annual totals. Referral counts may overlap and should not be added together. A screening finding does not by itself mean a person has cancer. More totals will be published as they are verified, see how we measure impact.
